UCD Chemistry Celebrates Global Women’s Breakfast 2026

10 February 2026 11:30-12:30, Dublin, Ireland

This event is for Å·ÃÀAV Members only

Introduction
The event will gather staff (academic, research, technical and administrative) and students (postgraduate and year 3 and 4 undergraduate) from the UCD School of Chemistry and Å·ÃÀAV members from the local section to celebrate the Global Women’s Breakfast 2026. The event aims to promote gender equality in the workplace, build professional networks and support mentor/mentee relationships. The event will be informal and will allow social interaction and networking throughout all members of the School of Chemistry. The UCD Chemistry Head of School (Prof. James Sullivan) will give a short introduction to the event. Dr Kristy Stanley (Chair of EDI Committee) will speak briefly about the work of the School of Chemistry EDI Committee, Dr Tom Hooper (Chair of Athena Swan Committee) will highlight the contribution of women to the School of Chemistry and the ongoing work in the School to promote gender equality and Dr Fun Man Fung will talk about the GWB (as the member of the GWB IUPAC working group for Ireland) and share information about GAELIC Mentor programme (a HEA-funded project). A screen will play videos showcasing the global participation of GWB. The student-run UCD Chemistry Society will gather entries for the GWB TikTok competition.
