Catalysis lies at the heart of modern chemistry, underpinning sustainable energy conversion, chemical manufacturing, and environmental remediation. Yet, many of the most critical questions in catalysis—What are the true active sites? How do catalysts evolve under realistic reaction conditions? How can spectroscopy and theory jointly guide rational catalyst design?—remain open. Frontiers in Catalysis: Bridging Spectroscopy, Theory, and Reactivity is a one-day symposium designed to address these challenges by bringing together the catalysis, spectroscopy, and theory communities under a single forum.
The symposium will feature plenary lectures by Professor Bert M. Weckhuysen (Utrecht University, The Netherlands and Editor in Chief, Catalysis Science & Technology) and Professor Karen Wilson (Griffith University, Australia and Editor in Chief, Sustainable Energy & Fuels), alongside invited talks by leading researchers from IIT Bombay, TIFR Mumbai, and IIT Mandi. The symposium aims to create a vibrant platform for cross-disciplinary exchange, where experimental catalysis, advanced spectroscopy, and theory converge to address fundamental and applied challenges in catalytic science. By bringing together leading researchers, early-career scientists, and students, the meeting seeks to stimulate new collaborations, sharpen mechanistic understanding, and accelerate the translation of molecular-level insights into rational catalyst design. Through plenary and invited lectures, interactive discussions, and student engagement, the symposium aspires to strengthen India’s catalysis ecosystem while connecting it to global frontiers in catalysis research.
The program spans cutting-edge advances in heterogeneous catalysis, operando and in situ characterization, molecular-level understanding of catalytic processes, and theory-driven insights into reactivity. A dedicated student poster session will provide a vibrant platform for young researchers to showcase their work and interact with senior scientists. The day will conclude with a “Meet the ŷAV Editors” panel discussion, offering participants an opportunity to engage directly with journal editors on scientific publishing, research quality, and emerging directions in catalysis.
Don’t miss out this exciting opportunity to meet, learn and interact with ŷAV team, editorial board members and experts.
