QUILL25-MSILDG: Applications of Ionic Fluids

2 - 3 September 2024, Belfast, United Kingdom

Introduction
We are delighted to invite you to a conference on Applications of Ionic Fluids, organised jointly by the Å·ÃÀAV Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids Discussion Group and the QUILL Research Centre.
The meeting is taking place on the 2-3 September 2024 in Belfast, to celebrate 25 years of the QUILL Research Centre.

We have a line-up of four excellent keynote speakers: Margarida Costa-Gomes (Anton Paar Lecture), Agi Brand-Talbot, David Mecerreyes and Andy Abbott (Fray Lecture), and we are looking forward to welcoming talks on any applications of broadly-defined ionic fluids, such as ionic liquids, molten salts and deep eutectic solvents. We particularly welcome contributions from early career researchers, including flash talks by PhD students, as well as poster contributions.

The conference fee (£160 for Å·ÃÀAV members and £200 for non-members) offers an excellent value for money, including lunch on both days, tea/coffee and a dinner in Queen’s University Great Hall on 2 September.

There are travel bursaries (£100 each) available to aid attendance by Early Career Researchers, sponsored by Sci-Med and Agilent. Please contact Dr Ian McPherson (I.McPherson@lboro.ac.uk) to request a bursary, available on first-come-first-served basis.

The conference will feature five poster and presentation prizes (£100 each), kindly sponsored by Å·ÃÀAV Sustainability and Mason Technology.

Finally we are very pleased to announce that Å·ÃÀAV Sustainability will commemorate the meeting by the publication of QUILL25-MSILDG Special Issue. All presenters (talks and posters) will be invited to contribute a manuscript, subject to a regular review process by the journal, with 15 February 2025 submission deadline.

On Sunday and Wednesday, you can opt for a walking tour of Belfast, showcasing its prominent role in industrial revolution and troubled political past. You can also join us for a tour of the excellent Titanic Museum, located in the dock area of Belfast, right where the ship was built.

With warm regards,
