Introduction

The purpose of the event is to train new and inexperienced A-level chemistry teachers in how to teach Required Practical tasks. The focus is on the following required practical experiments including:

• Preparation of an organic solid: aspirin preparation
• Preparation and distillation of cyclohexene
• Demonstration of the dehydration of ethanol
• Purification of an organic solid: recrystallisation
• Electrochemistry
• Melting point testing

Thanks to funding from the Å·ÃÀAV, there is no charge for attending.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. A set of delegate notes will be provided

Parking: There is no parking available on site but there is free parking on nearby streets. Please allow extra time if coming by car.
Train travel: Eltham station is a ten minute walk from the school.
