Important update on event submissions and edits 01-May-2024
We are currently transitioning to a new Å·ÃÀAV events submission system and website.
• New event submissions may take up to one week to be published while we complete the transition.
• Editing existing events is temporarily unavailable. New edit links will be issued next week.
Your patience is appreciated while we finalise these improvements to the Å·ÃÀAV events website.

On-surface synthesis: a bottom-up strategy to low-dimensional carbon structures

21 July 2022 13:00-14:00, United Kingdom

Introduction
On-surface synthesis via covalent coupling of adsorbed molecules on metal surfaces has attracted significant attention in recent years due to its potential to fabricate low-dimensional carbon materials with atomic precision. To understand and control the surface-chemistry-driven synthesis, many efforts have been made to design smart precursors, explore novel reaction schemes, and utilize templating effects from the substrate. This presentation focuses on high-resolution scanning probe microscopy experiments combined with density functional theory to demonstrate recent highlights on the assembly of surface-supported low-dimensional molecular structures.
This online talk by Sabine Maier from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany is  free to attend; a simple registration is all that is required.
