Introduction

The theme of the ICCE conference, A 2020 Vision of Chemistry Education, was inspired by Nelson Mandela (1997) who said: 鈥淓ducation is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world鈥�.  The programme themes for the conference are:

• Curriculum and systems thinking in chemistry education
• Cognition
• Context and diversity in chemical education
• Teacher education, development and learning communities
• Teacher knowledge
• Assessment
• Practical work in chemistry
• Linking chemistry to industry
• Chemistry and the environment
• Modeling in the teaching of chemistry

We are also organising a special day for local high school teachers to allow them to participate in an international conference.
