This special issue honours Professor Schurko’s insightful and sustained contributions to the study of the solid state via many approaches, including studies of structure and dynamics by advanced solid-state NMR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and NMR-augmented crystallography. Professor Schurko spent 20 years on faculty at the University of Windsor, Canada, and most recently was a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL (USA) and Director of the NMR & MRI User Program at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University. Much of Professor Schurko’s work involved the preparation and study of crystalline and cocrystalline systems prepared by a range of methods, including mechanochemical approaches. Another hallmark of Professor Schurko’s work was his frequent engagement with a wide range of collaborators with expertise in crystal engineering, materials synthesis, and computational chemistry. It is in this context that we invite you to contribute an article to a special issue in Professor Schurko’s honour. seeks to advance our fundamental understanding and application of the use of mechanical force for driving and controlling chemical reactions and materials transformations in the gas, liquid, and/or solid states. Given Professor Schurko’s areas of expertise, articles including solid-state NMR data are particularly welcome. Submissions should fit within the scope of the collection and Å·ÃÀAV Mechanochemistry journal.
