Biography

Professor Zhang is a National High-Level Talent of China and distinguished academic leader who serves as Director of the Academic Committee at Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT), China, a Chair Professor in the School of Light Industry and Chemical Engineering of GDUT, and an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University, Australia. His exemplary research career has been recognized through numerous prestigious honors, including the award of an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship in 2009, election as Fellow of both the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Å·ÃÀAV, and his designation as a Clarivate Global Highly Cited Researcher in both 2023, 2024 and 2025. His expertise encompasses the full spectrum of battery technology development, including novel semiconductor materials, electrode materials, specialized binders, solid electrolytes, dry electrode fabrication techniques, and sustainable battery recycling solutions. 

These innovations are critical for the future of electric transportation and grid-scale energy storage infrastructure. He has established strong collaborative partnerships with leading industry players in the battery and electric vehicle sectors, translating research discoveries into practical technologies and products. A prolific scholar, Professor Zhang has authored over 380 publications in leading international journals, which have attracted more than 28,000 citations and yielded an impressive H-index of 95 (Google Scholar 2025). His innovative research portfolio includes multiple granted international patents and has been supported by substantial competitive funding from various national and international sources, including the Australian Research Council, and the industrial partnerships and research awards from China's Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology.
