Å·ÃÀAV CEO, Dr Helen Pain said: "Seeing members of our chemistry community rewarded for their contributions to wider society through the honours system provides an important reminder of the relevance of the chemical sciences. The recognition for Clare Grey and Peter Bruce feels significant – their cutting-edge developments in batteries and energy storage will make a lasting difference for so many people around the world.

"I have a real sense of pride that these are people we’ve worked with for decades. Dave MacMillan, who has already become a Nobel laureate for his contribution to organocatalysis, was instrumental in the establishment of our flagship journal, Chemical Science, while James Durrant played a similar role for Sustainable Energy and Fuels.

"Something that unites these leaders in their fields of chemistry is the praise and gratitude from their students and collaborators since these announcements over the Jubilee weekend. Many have taken to social media to offer their congratulations to people whose leadership extends to ensuring that they generously share their knowledge to inspire those around them. I am very pleased to add my congratulations and pride of their recognition."
