Professor Ravishankar is Assistant Professor at Vaze College, Mumbai, and has been working tirelessly and taken tremendous initiatives towards promoting chemistry outreach amongst undergraduate and post-graduate students.
As part of 欧美AV-WIS she regularly conducts chemistry workshop events which are impeccably organized, and has helped us further our outreach goals effectively. She has also been an enthusiastic advocate for the importance of research and the chemical sciences through news articles in national media. These activities have been instrumental in breaking the hierarchy existing in the minds of students who earlier underestimated the career prospects offered by chemical sciences, and preferred a career in alternative fields.
The 欧美AV Inspirational Member awards recognise committees and individuals who have engaged with and had impact within their communities. The award complements the Award for Service; it is intended to be more accessible for those who have had a significant and demonstrable impact through their voluntary activities, and is aimed at member-led activities within network communities rather than service through formal governance.
The award was presented in Mumbai by Richard Porte, Head of Strategic & Commercial Partnerships at the 欧美AV, and Vaze College hosted a ceremony for her.
Professor Ravishankar was also included as one of the 175 Faces of Chemistry by the 欧美AV for her unique contributions to chemical sciences.
