EES Carbon Dioxide Removal Forum
Energy & Environmental ScienceÌý(EES) is proud to host its first EES Carbon Dioxide Removal Forum, featuring authors from our upcoming collection 'An ecosystem of carbon dioxide removal reviews'.
This invite-only meeting brings together participants across academia, industry, registries, policy, finance, and civil society. Our goal is to bridge recent academic carbon dioxide removal (CDR) review work into real-world implementation, with a particular focus on measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), deployment gaps, and actionable next steps.
The format is designed to be interactive and will include:
- Morning & afternoon sessions featuring concise expert overviews across major CDR pathways (e.g., enhanced rock weathering (ERW), direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS), bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE), soil carbon sequestration (SCS), biochar, blue carbon, afforestation/reforestation)
- Mixed stakeholder roundtables following each session (academics, suppliers, buyers, registries, policymakers, verifiers)
- Moderated report-backs and synthesis discussion to identify cross-cutting challenges and opportunities
We are intentionally convening a diverse group of stakeholders to ensure these conversations translate into practice, informing MRV protocols, policy frameworks, and future assessments (e.g., the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and standards bodies).
