How Chemistry Works: colour, explosions and wonder.

13 December 2012, Bolton, United Kingdom

Introduction
Christmas Lecture: The Ernest Worthington Memorial Lectures. The lecture will explore, and hopefully demonstrate, the enjoyment that can be had working in chemistry and trying to understand what is happening. Chemistry is an interesting and relevant subject that makes sense and helps us appreciate the world around us. It can be understood at many levels and our scientific understanding must be continually tested against evidence. Human beings are capable of wonder and we need to use it in all its dimensions – wondering 'about', 'at' and 'whether'. The Lecture will also be repeated at 2.00pm.
