Frutta Bowls, a WOWorks brand and the nation’s fastest growing superfoods cafe structured around specialty a莽ai bowls, has opened it newest location in Liberty Center. The new cafe is located at 7117 Haskell St., Unit E-148, and offers customers plenty of exciting food options.

The new restaurant offers a莽ai, kale, oatmeal and Greek yogurt bowls, smoothies, toasts, and more.

I had the opportunity to meet with the owner of the new restaurant, and had the pleasure of tasting my first a莽ai bowl.

Q: What is Frutta Bowls?

A: Frutta Bowls is one of the brands carried by WOWorks. We carry a variety of products including fruit bowls, build your own bowls, smoothies, as well as toasts. In addition, we have refreshers for the summer, and we also have superfoods like protein bites that we make fresh. Fresh and healthy is what we want to bring to this community. After all, our tagline is 鈥淏e Fresh, Be Healthy, Be Frutta.鈥 So we bring that into everything we make. Our ingredients are fresh and high quality, and tailored to a healthy lifestyle.

Q: What made you choose Liberty Center to open a Frutta Bowl location?

A: Liberty Center is vibrant, it’s new, and we want to bring this healthy lifestyle into our community. I want to bring Frutta Bowls into the mix, and I feel it will blend well with the area.

Q: Are you from the Liberty Township area?

A: I actually live in Mason, but I wasn’t born here. I’m originally from China, but I’ve lived the United States for about 10 years.

Q: When was the first time you’ve had Acai Bowls?

A: For me, it was probably after COVID started. At that time there were two Frutta Bowls in Ohio. One was in Mason and the other one was in Miamisburg. That’s when I first tasted it, and I really liked it. It tasted good and the presentation was fantastic. So then I felt that this was really something I should focus on.

Q: What’s it like being a small-business owner? What are some of the difficulties?

A: First of all it’s a whole lot of learning. This is still all so new to me as a first time franchisee. It involves a lot of learning, and you figure things out as you go along. That means you have to be strong minded, perseverant, persistent, and it involves a lot of time to figure things out. You have to keep an open mind as you meet different people, and face different challenges. There are a lot of things you don’t expect at the beginning. So you have the keep your mind open, and keep learning as you go. I just stay true to myself, and never forget why I opened this store in the first place. At times when things don’t go the way you want them to just remember it’s all part of the learning experience. I think that’s what it means to be a small-business owner.

Q: When do you guys officially open?

A: We did a soft open on March 8. We’re having our grand opening celebration this Saturday, March 23.

Q: What are you guys doing for your grand opening?

A: We’re doing so many things. We’re having a plinking board game to win Frutta Bowl swag, the first 50 guests will get a free entree on their next visit, and guests who spend $25 will get a Frutta tote with a surprise inside. In addition, one lucky customer will get a free smoothie weekly for an entire year.

Q: It’s hard for small businesses to thrive in America, especially in the post-COVID world. What advice would you give to an aspiring small business owner?

A: Sometimes you have to try and see, and just believe. Make sure you do your due diligence. Do the market research and observe how other stores are performing. Then do online research, whether it’s primary or secondary. If you feel there is a market for your service and if you feel the value you will bring to your customers will sustain you, then just do it. I was overwhelmed by how many customers and support we got on our first soft open day. That shows the value and products that we are bringing to our customers. It will surprise you. Be hardworking and bring in the brand value of your vision, and in the end it will surprise you.

Q: So this is my last question: Would you want to open another Frutta Bowl in the future?

A: Yes, I am hoping to open another one. The other good thing about WOWorks is that it has several other brands. For example, Saladworks is another brand under the company. It’s a healthy choice also. Some of our stores do a co-brand, so in the same store there is a Frutta Bowl and Saladworks. So it’s a good combination. I’m hoping in the future that I get the opportunity to open not just one, but multiple stores and to bring some other brands in as well under the WoWorks banner.

Frutta Bowls is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The best aspect of the cafe is your ability to make your own bowls, which should appeal to customers. Plus the refreshers are amazing, and should satisfy your thirst during the summer heat.

Frutta Bowls is available on third party delivery apps Uber Eats, GrubHub and Door Dash.

In addition, the restaurant has its own rewards program. Download the Frutta Bowls app for exclusive, members-only rewards, special offers and guest perks.
